    Ingredients needed for this recipe

This chili is packed with veggies, all the health benefits of bone broth, and naturally sweetened with dates. Here’s what you’ll need:

    • Ground Beef - You can get 100% grass-fed and grass-finished ground beef through Butcherbox that is delivered straight to your door. High quality proteins are such an important part to any diet, and I highly recommend this company!
    • Tomato Sauce
    • Fire Roasted Tomatoes
    • Dates - The dates help to sweeten this recipe in the most delicious and natural way!
    • Sweet Potatoes - Any type of sweet potatoes are great, but I am always partial to Japanese sweet potatoes!
    • Bell Peppers - I like to use a mix of both red and green peppers!
    • Carrots
    • Onion
    • Beef bone broth - There are so many added health benefits to using bone broth, but feel free to use regular beef broth as well!
    • Apple Cider Vinegar - Adding an acid to a dish always brings out such delicious flavor!
    • Coconut Aminos
    • Chili Powder
    • Garlic Powder
    • Cumin
    • Allspice - You won't believe the amazing flavor that allspice adds to this dish!
    • Cayenne Pepper

Using dates to sweeten the chili

The “sweet” in this chili comes, not only from the sweet potatoes, but from dates! I have found that the easiest and quickest way to incorporate them is to allow them to simmer in a small saucepan with the tomato sauce until they have softened. You’ll then transfer the sauce and dates to a blender, or use an immersion blender to puree.

    How to make this recipe

    1. Brown the ground beef with salt and pepper in a large skillet over medium heat.
    2. Add the tomato sauce and pitted dates to a saucepan over medium heat.
    3. Let simmer until dates soften – about 10 minutes.
    4. Transfer the dates and tomato sauce to a blender or use an immersion blender to puree.
    5. Add the ground beef, tomato sauce and dates mixture, and all other ingredients to a slow cooker and cook on high for 4-6 hours.
    6. Top with your favorite toppings.
    7. Enjoy!
