What's so great about air fryers?

I know you’re all thinking it so let’s start here. It took me a while to get on the air fryer band wagon. Mostly because I didn’t want one more appliance taking up room on my counter or having to find storage for. BUT almost a year in and I can say without a doubt it is the number one most used appliance in my kitchen, bumping out the instant pot which previously held that spot.

First of all, everything just TASTES better coming out of the air fryer. You can’t beat the texture that it gives to frozen foods, think chicken nuggets and french fries. YUM! You would think you literally just fried those babies up.

Second, it gives you that deep fried texture without the crazy amount of oil (or mess!), making it a much healthier option.

Lastly, I have yet to find a leftover that the air fryer doesn’t bring back to life! Seriously, we have heated up leftover tacos, roasted veggies, quesadillas, pizza, fries, literally everything in it and it revives them all and makes them taste just as good as day one!

    Ingredients Needed

    • Sweet Potatoes - my favorite sweet potatoes are Japanese sweet potatoes, but garnet work great as well!
    • Olive Oil or Avocado Oil
    • Sea Salt
    • Desired Toppings - See below for my favorite recommendations!

    How To Make This Recipe

    1. Scrub and rinse the sweet potatoes to remove any dirt and then dry.
    2. Using a small knife pierce the sweet potatoes 8ish times each all over.
    3. Drizzle the oil all over the potatoes and using your hands rub to ensure they are completely coated.
    4. Sprinkle with salt and place them in the air fryer basket.
    5. Air fry for 35-45 minutes (this entirely depends on the size of the potatoes) at 400F or until fork tender.
    6. Remove potatoes, allow to cool, and top with your desired toppings!

Whole30 Buffalo Ranch Stuffed Sweet Potatoes

My favorite way to serve these sweet potatoes is to stuff them with this instant pot buffalo chicken! Add a side of roasted veggies and you have an entire meal!

    FAQ's

How to serve baked sweet potatoes?

There are so many ways to serve baked sweet potatoes! If you’re in the mood for something a bit more sweet, top them with butter or ghee, cinnamon, and a little bit of honey or maple syrup.
For something a bit more savory try adding ghee, roasted garlic, and your favorite fresh herbs like thyme or parsley!

Can I reheat baked sweet potatoes?

Yes! Baked sweet potatoes are so easy to reheat. To reheat in the air fryer simply turn the temp down to 350F and reheat for 10-15 minutes until heated all the way through.

You can also reheat in the oven at 350F or in the microwave!

What kind of sweet potatoes should I use?

You can use any kind of sweet potato for this recipe! However, my favorite kind of sweet potatoes EVER and the one that I use for nearly everything sweet potato related are Japanese Sweet Potatoes.

They are a little bit sweeter than traditional sweet potatoes here in the US, but they also have a religious delicious nutty flavor that is often compared to a roasted chestnut. If you haven’t tried them, I highly recommend!

Whichever potatoes you use just be sure that they are fairly uniform in shape and thickness (though not too thick!) so they cook evenly.

    Which air fryer is best?

I think this all depends on what you’re going for! When shopping for an air fryer, I was looking for one that would be aesthetically pleasing sitting on my counter. We went with this Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven, and I absolutely love it! But I also know plenty of people who swear by the Ninja Foodi!
